Married and Florida Vacation!

Tuesday, April 7, 2015

Last Thursday morning (very early, like 5:30 am!) we left for Florida. We arrived in Ft. Lauderdale around noon and went to check in at the hotel. We stayed at the Wyndham Grand in Deerfield Beach (which a little background story to the hotel is that my family has been staying at the same hotel for Easter for around 33 years, give or take a few). Anyways after we checked in we dropped off our bags and headed to the courthouse! Once we arrived at the courthouse it only took us an hour or so to get our marriage license and get married! Yes we are still having our big wedding in the winter but we have heard a lot of rumors about possible deployments and we decided lets just go ahead and get married now while we are on vacation! So that is what we did!

That night and the rest of the trip we decided was to relax and do nothing at all! Since we are always nonstop because of work we wanted to enjoy our time off (since we never get a break from work) and just be lazy!

Thursday night we decided to take a nap after we got back to the hotel (since we got up at 3:30 that morning) and once we woke up we got sushi at Sushi Song in Deerfield.

Friday my parents got to the hotel and we went to lunch at The Whale's Rib and I got conch fritters and stone crab claws and Brenden got a tuna salad sandwich and all of the food was very good! Then we laid at the pool all day (I HATEEE the sand so I refuse to go to the beach, but the pool is my best friend!) and went to Two George's at the Cove for dinner. I got their shrimp scampi pasta and I absolutely loved it! I truly thing that was the best meal I had on the trip!

Saturday we once again laid at the pool all day and then went to dinner at Carrabba's with my parents and a family that we have been very close with for over 25 years. Their two kids are Brenden and my age and I have grown up with them ever since we were born so it was nice that Brenden got a chance to meet them and he ended up having such a great time! It made me feel great because the one boy I grew up with is in the Navy so Brenden and him talked about military stuff all night long!

Sunday we went to sunrise service on the beach for Easter. This is something that my family does every year for Easter. It has always been a special tradition for us. I was able to get some really pretty sunrise pictures over the ocean. After that we had breakfast at the hotel and then relaxed at the pool all day since it was our last full day in Florida.

So Sunday night we packed everything and we headed back home on Monday morning. I am already regretting leaving Florida because since we got back last night it has rained all day today and this morning my computer crashed at work so we have to buy a new one. That's what happens when you leave your business for a couple days I guess! haha.

What did all of you do for Easter?

March 2015 Insta-Recap!

Wednesday, April 1, 2015

Last month I started doing a Insta-Recap of the month, which means I took all of the photos I posted on Instagram and shared them with you. Some I added little comments to and others I did not. I received feedback from a few girls saying that the loved it and I decided I'm going to do it again! Why not, I mean I had a blast the first time!? I hope all of you enjoy! I didn't really post that many pictures this month!

I seriously have a problem/obsession with West Elm...

I ordered my wedding dress at the beginning of the month!
Now I just have to wait till October for it to come in!

My little Maci girl. She was so sleepy this day and she just
sat in the car staring out the front window and never
moved a muscle the whole car ride to work! Haha!

I just love my girls!

On March 14th it was my 1 year sober anniversary and I
have had a lot of hard times and struggles this year but I
also have had an amazing year and I am so lucky because
I never would of had a great year if I was using still.

I made chicken lettuce wraps and they were delicious!

We started painting the entryway, and living room gray!

#selfiesunday

While Brenden had my car at the unit I got to drive the
big truck all weekend! :)

My Easter tree and decorations

Bought new curtains to match our living room (excuse the
mess from us painting).

Well that is my Insta-Recap of March! Hope you enjoyed and follow me on Instagram!

Currently...

Monday, March 30, 2015

Today I am linking up with Becky From Choose happy for her Currently linkup!

Enjoying.... I am currently enjoying my newly painted bathroom and front door! The bathroom is a mint green color (which Brenden hates), and we painted the dark brown door and door trim white! I am so happy that we are finally able to take the time and start painting our house! We moved in the week of Thanksgiving and with all of the holidays we wanted to hold of and start working on the house after all the madness settled down! Well that time has finally come and I am LOVING the work that we have done so far! Also with the front door it was dark brown and we painted it white, we wanted to change all the doors and the baseboards in the house to white to brighten up the house so we are starting to slowly get everything done.

Watching.... Tonight I am watching the season finale of The Walking Dead! I have tried to stay off of social media all last night and tonight so I won't accidently see any spoilers about what happened. I can't believe that this season is over.

Decorating.... The whole house! We are trying to get our man cave/ basement decorated, we want it to me a military/ U.S.A. theme. I still haven't found anything to really go in there yet. The ceiling was painted two different colors (I honestly think that the previous owner thought they used the same paint but it wasn't). So we painted it white and the dark brown paneling and walls all a light cream/tan color.

Wanting.... THE BEACH! We leave for Florida on Thursday and I cannot wait! It really needs to hurry up! I have no clothes to bring with me so tonight we are going shopping! YAY!

Diets Suck!

Friday, March 27, 2015

Well first off diets suck! Which I think a good amount of people will agree with me on that! However I did lose 9 pounds in 4 days and that my friends make the whole dieting thing a little better!
How I've done it so far was that I did the Military Diet for three days and now since thats done I am just eating a lot smaller portions and mostly fresh and healthy foods. I try to stay away from frozen/ pre packaged foods. I honestly already feel so much better and have way more energy!

I haven't had the chance to start working out but my goal is to either go to the gym (which I hate doing) or workout at home. A few days ago I purchased an exercise ball and I wanted to try a few at home workouts that I saw on Pinterest.... I'll post them below incase anyone else is interested in them.

That is just a few of my at home workout pins that I have on my Fit and Healthy board. Hope this helps give anyone ideas of things to do at home because if your like me after work you do not feel like going to the gym!

Is anyone doing anything fun this weekend? I'm not! I am just relaxing at home and being lazy since brenden is at the range all weekend. Hope y'all have a great weekend!

Wedding Planning Monday

Monday, March 23, 2015

Well since I've actually accomplished a few more things on the wedding to-do list I figured I'd brag since I'm finally able to cross a few things off my list! (About time... I know, I know).

- Yesterday we picked our venue (finally)! It will be at the Wyndham Grand. It has windows along the whole outside wall with such a gorgeous view of a park and the rivers! Our wedding is this December so the park will have white lights on all of the trees! I am so excited to have that view from our reception, it truly is one of a kind!

It's the big gold hotel in the middle.

- Our wedding package comes with a wedding cake from a local bakery, I have not had a chance to meet with them yet but I have a few ideas in mind for our cake. I honestly would like to do one of the foam cakes ( where the cake is foam and they decorate it so you would never know it is not real, but the top keepsake layer is real and a piece of a different layer is real so you can still have the traditional "cutting the cake") but I would like to do the foam cake because I have some individual cakes in mind for our guests.

Has anyone heard of these "foam" cakes before?

These are the cake ideas that I love and the bottom middle
one is the individual ones I love for our guests.

- Paid and ordered my wedding dress. It won't come in until October. I absolutely love my dress but I do have a story about it. The first day that my family and I went wedding dress shopping my sister picked a dress out for me that was on the mannequin in the front of the store, I refused to try it on for a few reasons, 1) my sister picked it out and we have totally different tastes in everything! 2) it looked ball gown-ish and super poofy! (I DID NOT want poofy!!!) So I did not try it on but the next time I went to look at dresses with  my mom she said "oh just try it on! Since you hate it and refuse to try it on I bet that will be your dress!"..... Well, she was right! When I had it on I fell in love! That is the only dress that I did not question or want to try any other dress on after it!

- I picked out bridesmaid dresses and they will be light gray and my sister's (matron of honour) dress will be a dark red. We are having the place I bought my dress from make them because we want them to look similar to the dress below but that dress does not come in any other color but that blue. (We have seven bridesmaids so we had to find a dress that everyone liked and fit their bodies comfortably)

- Also we just received all of our engagement pictures so we have picked out a few save the date postcards from Shutterfly that we love, so that is the next thing on my to-do list is to preview and order them. We have decided to do post cards due to the expenses of having to purchase envelopes for all of them (we have 450+ people we are inviting, so no thats not how many save the dates I would need but still I will need a decent amount!)

So far that is all that I have done... I have a few more things lined up that I will hopefully be able to cross off my list here soon but may I add that the things I have done now were not done two weeks ago! Geez I still have a lot more to do any have to get it all done for December!! Wish me luck!

Starting To Paint! Woohoo!!

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

Today we have a friend painting our living room, entry way, office and upstairs hallway, a light gray, while we are at work! Woohoo!! :) Brenden and I really wanted to paint the house on our own but with us working from 8am-5pm (but we never really get done and get home until 8 or 9 normally) and we work Monday through Saturday so the only day we would be able to paint is Sunday and we cannot get a whole house painted in just one day a week, that would take forever!! So we keep getting updated pictures of how the painting is going so I figured I would share them with you until I show you the finished rooms!

Hallway

Office

Entryway/ living room

Entryway

After the painting is done in these four rooms we are going to paint the master bedroom and bathroom a teal color, paint the door molding, paint or get new doors for the rooms in the upstairs hallway, tear out the carpet and stain and finish the hardwood floors (that are underneath the carpet) a dark brown. Then we want to get new baseboards.

So we have a lot to do still but we are so excited to finally be able to get things done now that the holidays are over and the weather is getting better!

Oh! I forgot to mention, the 5 gallon bucket of gray paint we used only cost $6 and some change because Brenden and I had a few gift cards from Christmas that we didn't use yet! That truly made the paint sooo much better! Haha. (Also if your wondering why I purchased so much paint that is because we think we are going to paint most of the upstairs with that color gray and we figured we would have to do multiple coats, however right now it looks good with just one coat of paint?!)

Catch Up Post- Stuffed Banana Peppers

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

I have been so busy with work and the house I haven't had time to post anything! :(  So I figured I'd post a recipe!

I made home made stuffed banana peppers last week and they were so good but very hot! I made five total and we could only eat one each! But here's a quick and shortened version of how I made them:

-Pre heat the oven to 425degrees.

-5 banana peppers (you can use as many peppers as you want), cut the tops off and used a spoon to get the seeds out.

- 1pound of hot sausage ground up, not in the casing.

- stuff the banana peppers with the sausage (I found it easier to cut a small line down the pepper so I could put the meat into it with less hassle).

-Place stuffed peppers in a oven safe dish.

- Add as much spaghetti sauce as you would like (i use traditional Ragu and I put a little under the peppers and enough on top to cover the peppers completely).

-Cover with aluminum foil and place into the oven for 45 minutes (cooking time varies due to how soft you want your peppers to be, I like mine super tender so i normally take them out, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over them and cook them for another 5 minutes).

***please note that when handling the hot sausage and peppers when preparing you might want to wear gloves due to them being hot***
