Wedding Planning Monday

Monday, March 23, 2015

Well since I've actually accomplished a few more things on the wedding to-do list I figured I'd brag since I'm finally able to cross a few things off my list! (About time... I know, I know).

- Yesterday we picked our venue (finally)! It will be at the Wyndham Grand. It has windows along the whole outside wall with such a gorgeous view of a park and the rivers! Our wedding is this December so the park will have white lights on all of the trees! I am so excited to have that view from our reception, it truly is one of a kind!

It's the big gold hotel in the middle.

- Our wedding package comes with a wedding cake from a local bakery, I have not had a chance to meet with them yet but I have a few ideas in mind for our cake. I honestly would like to do one of the foam cakes ( where the cake is foam and they decorate it so you would never know it is not real, but the top keepsake layer is real and a piece of a different layer is real so you can still have the traditional "cutting the cake") but I would like to do the foam cake because I have some individual cakes in mind for our guests.

Has anyone heard of these "foam" cakes before?

These are the cake ideas that I love and the bottom middle
one is the individual ones I love for our guests.

- Paid and ordered my wedding dress. It won't come in until October. I absolutely love my dress but I do have a story about it. The first day that my family and I went wedding dress shopping my sister picked a dress out for me that was on the mannequin in the front of the store, I refused to try it on for a few reasons, 1) my sister picked it out and we have totally different tastes in everything! 2) it looked ball gown-ish and super poofy! (I DID NOT want poofy!!!) So I did not try it on but the next time I went to look at dresses with  my mom she said "oh just try it on! Since you hate it and refuse to try it on I bet that will be your dress!"..... Well, she was right! When I had it on I fell in love! That is the only dress that I did not question or want to try any other dress on after it!

- I picked out bridesmaid dresses and they will be light gray and my sister's (matron of honour) dress will be a dark red. We are having the place I bought my dress from make them because we want them to look similar to the dress below but that dress does not come in any other color but that blue. (We have seven bridesmaids so we had to find a dress that everyone liked and fit their bodies comfortably)

- Also we just received all of our engagement pictures so we have picked out a few save the date postcards from Shutterfly that we love, so that is the next thing on my to-do list is to preview and order them. We have decided to do post cards due to the expenses of having to purchase envelopes for all of them (we have 450+ people we are inviting, so no thats not how many save the dates I would need but still I will need a decent amount!)

So far that is all that I have done... I have a few more things lined up that I will hopefully be able to cross off my list here soon but may I add that the things I have done now were not done two weeks ago! Geez I still have a lot more to do any have to get it all done for December!! Wish me luck!

Oh Where Did The Weekend Go?!

Tuesday, January 20, 2015

This past weekend was so busy we didn't even get a chance to enjoy it! Bummer I know...

Friday we had to leave work early because a plumber was coming to our house (our main drain in the laundry room was backing up. Lovely!). So we rushed out of work to make it home in time and we waited an hour past when the guy was suppose to come and he still wasn't there. So I figured I waited long enough, I'm going to call him! Go figure, he "forgot he scheduled our appointment and wouldn't be able to make it out till monday afternoon". I'm sorry but that wasn't going to work for us. One night without showering and not being able to dishes or laundry was enough for me! Also we didn't want to leave work early again on monday so I called someone else who was available Saturday.

Saturday I had an appointment to go look at more wedding dresses with my mom. While we were dress shopping, Brenden stayed home while the new plumber worked on our drains. I don't know what the problem was but its now fixed! Woohooo! When I got home I accidently fell asleep and didn't get up till late so we decided to just stay home and have a movie night. We watched Gone Girl, even though Brenden wasn't too thrilled with my movie selection he still watched it with me. We both felt the movie started out very slow and boring but we both agreed that what we predicted was completely different than what happened. So we ended up liking the movie, but we did NOT agree with Nick's decision to stay. I think he's crazyyyy! Haha!

(Here's zoomed in parts of some dresses i liked, i didn't want to put full pictures on incase brenden does get on my blog, which is veryyy rare, but I'd rather be safe than sorry!)

Sunday I let Brenden sleep in while I made breakfast and cleaned the house. Once he was awake and ate we headed to my cousins house two hours away to go see their baby girl Nina, who was born on Tuesday! We stayed up there all day and I didn't complain one bit because I got to hold her the whole time! (Ugh baby fever go away please!!) Then when we got home I got things ready for work in the morning and lunch packed and we went straight to bed!

We had a pretty busy weekend and it went way too fast! So I hope next weekend I will be able to relax more and actually enjoy not being at work!

xoxo,
Courtney

Saying "Yes to the Dress"

Sunday, January 11, 2015

Yesterday my mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and my future mother in law all went with me to look at wedding dresses! I did not "say yes to the dress" just yet, however I do think I found "the one". I have not bought it yet because I still want to go look at a few more next weekend. I do really love the dress that will probably be it, but I keep looking at the pictures and keep hesitating because I think it looks a little weird on me. However I know it was just the store sample and not made to fit me. So I need to keep an open mind and keep telling myself that it will look sooo much better once it is made to fit me!

After that we stopped at the fish market in our city, so my sister could get live lobsters for her husband. She was okay when the guy picked it up but when he went to put it into the bag for her she screamed and dropped it because "it looked like a giant spider", or so she says! Haha! Everyone in the fish market stopped and watched her! It was like a free comedy!

Then when I got home Brenden had just pulled in our driveway so I quickly made us dinner while he relaxed. We had wine, steaks, lobster bisque, and potatoes. After we ate Brenden and I laid on the couch to watch some tv. That didn't last long because he was asleep right after he laid down!

So that is a little recap of our Saturday, and today I am cleaning the house and relaxing with the dogs until Brenden gets home from the unit!

xoxo,
Courtney
